My second aunt graduated from high school and was the most educated among her generation, as well as a decision-maker in important family matters. It's said she was an outstanding student, skipping grades in junior high and gaining admission to high school, but due to financial difficulties and her parents' advanced age, she voluntarily dropped out. Later, my father went to junior high but failed the high school entrance exam at least twice, a consequence of patriarchal favoritism that prioritized boys. My youngest aunt was very intelligent and also dropped out of school to give my father the opportunity to study. Looking back, this patriarchal mindset negatively impacted the development of both aunts and the entire family.
